Niche Electronics and State College of Florida to partner on Workforce Development

As part of its continuing investment in the Sarasota community, the Florida campus of
Niche Electronics recently hosted The State College of Florida’s (SCF) training
specialists to discuss how Niche could be a resource for SCF’s workforce development
programs, specifically in the areas of Engineering Technology.

Niche will be touring new engineering students and continuing discussions around how
the school and local manufacturers can partner to help strengthen Engineering
Technology students’ skill sets for manufacturing.

Partnerships like this one help SCF students earn an Associate of Science degree in
Engineering Technology, with the ability to gain certificates in the areas of Alternative
Energy System Specialist, Engineering Technology Support Specialist, and others.

The partnership, which was facilitated by Niche’s Operations and Business Development departments,
grew from meeting discussions between Niche, the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and The Chamber’s CareerEdge workforce development initiative.

“We are excited about the opportunity to work with Niche Electronics and the potential it
has for our students in the Engineering Technology program,” said Sam Aldrich,
Program Manager for Engineering Technology. “Niche’s facilities and equipment are a
great example of modern manufacturing, and the possibilities for internships and career
placement are very exciting.”
