Niche makes ongoing investments in next-generation equipment and technology. We also developed and continuously update rigorous procedures and standards that enable us to maintain the highest quality. But none of that would matter without our most critical resource: our people.
We need highly trained, experienced professionals to run our state-of-the-art equipment, maintain standards, and transform each client’s vision into a high-quality product. Finding, training, and keeping these people is a primary area of focus for Niche.
We recruit candidates from top technical schools, referrals, and other sources. Then, we apply Niche’s rigorous interview and assessment process to ensure new hires are capable folks who will mesh well with our culture. But that’s just the start.
Continuous Training
Our industry and our technology evolve rapidly – and so do our team members. Maintaining the highest quality standards requires ongoing, on-the-job training. For example, our staff includes an IPC standards trainer and a J-STD trainer, and we provide ISO and safety training throughout the year. We also cross-train our team to program and use multiple machines, giving us production flexibility and giving our team a way to expand their skills.
Leveraging Knowledge
Experienced people are our most valuable asset. Niche established programs that take full advantage of this resource. We create Work Cell groups of team members focused on unique builds or complex projects. We establish inclusive New Product Introduction teams that focus on every detail. Niche also uses multi-point validation systems that put our most experienced employees in position to have maximum impact.
A Culture of Opportunity
Our approaches to training and production enable our people to broaden their knowledge and their value. At Niche, we also create a culture of inclusion and teamwork that enables us to excel, collectively, at using our problem-solving approach to our work. Finally, our employees know that we offer opportunities for growth and regularly promote from within. Our team sees that they can progress at Niche, and they stay – enabling us to avoid the “brain drain” so common in the electronic manufacturing services sector.
There’s no doubt that smart, technically gifted employees give any EMS company – and their clients – a huge advantage. But it doesn’t happen by chance. Niche’s detailed, rigorous approach enables us to build a skilled, stable workforce that has been a crucial ingredient to our growth.
